Next up... starring in the new musical lesbian love octagon
|
This June, I'll be featured in a new musical all about militant feminism, ex-girlfriends' ex-girlfriends, riot girrls in the 90s, and of course, song and dance! Lesbian Love Octagon is, at its heart, a story about love, friendship, and community. With an all-female cast, this show is going to be unlike any musical you've seen before. I'm very excited about it. Come check it out at the Kraine Theatre here in NYC. Running June 5-29th, Wed-Sat at 8pm. For more info about the show, visit www.lesbianthemusical.com. Or for a sneak peek, check out one of my songs on our cast recording by clicking below! |

5.21.13 performed at 54 below
What an exciting performance last night! The cast of Lesbian Love Octagon was invited to perform at the legendary cabaret space
54 Below. We sang my big comedic number, "Ubiquitous Ex-Girlfriend" and it was a hit! They laughed, they cried, they threw fedoras onstage. ...well, something like that. It was a huge honor to perform at that venue. Can't wait to upload the video!

5.1.13 lesbian love octagon begins rehearsals
Hizzah! Rehearsals have finally begun for Lesbian Love Octagon! The rest of the cast is fantastic and I can't wait to get this sucker up on its feet. Time to make musical theatre herstory, that's for damn sure!
4.12.13 divorce travels to st. louis
Just landed in St. Louis with the rest of the cast of Divorce The Musical! We're here for a special producers' showcase to raise funds to put us up for an open Off-Broadway run. Hizzah! It also happens to be my hometown... Hi, Mom and Dad! I need me some good home cookin' and serious nap time!
3.27.13 lesbian love octagon fully funded!
We did it! Thanks to everyone who donated to our IndieGoGo campaign, the upcoming run of Lesbian Love Octagon is now fully funded. Thanks be to goddess! The show will run the entire month of June at the Kraine Theatre in NYC. For more info about this incredible, edgy, heart warming, all-female musical, visit their website at www.lesbianthemusical.com.
3.10.13 help raise money for lesbian love octagon
The amazing all-female original musical about Dyke Drama is coming back to NYC for a month long run in June (and a hopeful extension Off-Broadway, of course!). I'm lucky enough to be a part of this amazing and innovative new work and couldn't be happier. However, the show needs more funding! I took part in an IndieGoGo campaign to raise money for the show and had a lot of fun doing so. For the link to donate to the production, click here and be sure to check out our ridiculous music video to help get the word out! (I'm the one in the outrageous beard dancing around like a damn fool. Lovin' it!)
2.28.13 afterellen.com interview
Neato! The lesbian website, www.AfterEllen.com, did an interview with the creators of Lesbian Love Octagon and asked to interview me as well! I talk about what it's been like working on the show and why I'm so passionate about it. Check out the article here.
2.20.13 holy shit. i just performed at the friar's club.
I just returned home from Divorce The Musical 's performance at NYC's legendary Friar's Club, and I have to just take a minute and be thankful. It was such a special evening. There's something awe-inspiring about being in such a legendary, historic location, where nearly every great comedienne and actor has been inside. We got to perform on the stage inside the main dining room, where the likes of Lucille Ball, Barbra Streisand, and Whoopi Goldberg (along with many, many funny dudes) have been Roasted. Ken Greengrass, who invited us to perform, has personally roasted my idol, Lucille Ball, on that very stage. It was almost like a spiritual experience performing there. You could feel the energy and love from all of the greats that have passed through. And, of course, I swung by the beautifully adorned Lucille Ball room and took in all the good vibes. Tonight was one of the most memorable nights of my life thus far. Thanks so much to the Friar's Club, Ken Greengrass, and of course, the incredible team of Divorce !
2.8.13 givin' up redheads is spinner.com's music video of the day!
Hizzah! The music video I shot a few months back is getting some well-deserved recognition. Spinner.com, who has an estimated 1.1 million unique monthly visitors, has declared Leland Sundries' "Givin' Up Redheads" their video of the day!
View the article here and the video itself here. I play the redhead. It's a stretch, I know.

1.31.13 music video for lesbian love octagon
After a two day shoot, we've officially wrapped filming of the music video for "Drink To Being Single." The video will be released within the next few weeks to gain excitement and buzz for the show. The Lesbian Love Octagon is slated for an NYC run in June!
1.29.12 llo cd release party!
Tonight was the CD release party for The Lesbian Love Octagon's Studio Cast Album that I participated in back in November. The tracks sound amazing (listen to a few of them on my Musical Theatre page) and the CD artwork is killer! Can't wait to get this heartfelt show on its feet this June here in NYC!
1.26.13 you didn't see urinetown? well then, urine for a dissapointment...
Today was our final show, but at least we went out with a bang! Urinetown received excellent press and was the first show that Secret Theatre has produced where there were more sold-out performances than not! If you saw it, please cast your vote for us in the NYIT Awards! We are up for Best Show, Best Ensemble, and yours truly is up for Best Supporting Actress. It's super quick to register, so go vote at www.NYITawards.com!
1.19.13 review shout out!
We've been getting a lot of press for Urinetown over the past few days, but one reviewer especially loved my performance and singled me out! Here's what Mateo Moreno of The Artswire NYC has to say: "Lindsay Naas steals each and every scene she's in, powerhousing through her first number all the way up through the end. Her Pennywise is firey and strong, outlandish and strange, and just about perfect. ...It is well worth it to see Lindsay Naas's Pennywise. She's a talent to keep an eye on." I'm flattered and thankful. Sometimes a little encouragement and a few nice words really go a long way. Thanks for the shout out, Mateo!
1.17.13 great reviews for urinetown
Hizzah! Three great reviews came out this week for Secret Theatre's production of Urinetown! And I have mentions in all of them! Check out my press page for the specifics, but I've been called "alluring," "first rate," "chilling," and... "nymphomaniac."
Oh... wait... I blame that one on Greggy-poo (see below)!

1.12.13 tony winning playwright of urinetown comes to see... well... urinetown
How badass is that?! Greg Kotis, who wrote the book for the show and won the Tony when it went to Broadway, was in the audience tonight and brought his daughter in tow! They were very sweet and he even stayed after the show to chat with the cast for a bit. What a chill, down-to-earth guy. And funny, too. Must be that good ole Chicago sense of humor. Naturally, we've become best friends, he's writing a part for me in his next musical, and his next goal in life is to make me famous. Thanks, Greg!
1.10.13 Happy opening, urinetown!
What a great way to start 2013! Urinetown officially opened with a bang. Considering this was the first time we had this crazy extravaganza in front of an audience, we had a few hitches, but that's what it's all about -- Putting something on its feet and learning from it! Can't wait to really settle into this show and this character and keep on having fun with the incredible cast!
1.01.13 happy new year!
This year has definitely been a whirlwind for me. I've worked on four incredible musicals here in NY, had my Off-Broadway debut, sang on my first Original Cast Recording, shot various film shorts, and made several TV appearances. AND after seven years as a lowly EMC, I finally joined Actor's Equity! I'm so grateful for the people in my life who support this crazy dream of mine and I'm ready for 2013 to bring bigger, even more exciting adventures into my life.
12.06.12 LISTEN TO TRACKS FROM LESBIAN LOVE OCTAGON ORIGINAL CAST RECORDING!
After countless hours in the studio, the tracks for the new musical The Lesbian Love Octagon are now available for listening! I've uploaded my big comedic solo, "Ubiquitous Ex-Girlfriend" as well as the sexy, dirty show-stopping trio, "Drink To Being Single." Warning: "Drink To Being Single" is not for the faint of heart. And yes, I'm talking to you, parents! Listen at your own risk! For everyone else, click my Musical Theatre page or click here and press play under the title of the song you'd like to hear!
11.26.12 Urinetown rehearsals underway
Rehearsals have officially begun! The cast and creative team is fantastic for this production. I'm so excited to be doing another show with The Secret Theatre. Urinetown opens January 10th... you'll have to hold your pee til then!
11.13.12 Now a member of the Actor's Equity Association!
Well, if I thought this year couldn't get any better, I was wrong! AEA got in touch with me and told me that due to my involvement with Divorce The Musical, I can join the union... SO I DID! After seven years of being a lowly EMC, I finally have my card. And, boy, does it feel good. Can't wait for audition season to be up and running!
11.12.12 LLO Demo -- it's a wrap!
After about 15 hours being in the studio, all of my solo and ensemble work is finally recorded. Phew! Recording in a studio is tedious and intense, but oh so fun! I can't wait to hear how the final project turns out!
11.10.12 Cast in Urinetown!!!
Hold on to your (toilet) seats, everyone! I'll be playing one of my dream roles this coming January! I've just been cast as Pennywise in Secret Theatre's production of Urinetown! I worked with Secret Theatre recently this summer, when I played Madelaine True in Lippa's The Wild Party and I can't wait to work with these talented people again! Rehearsals start next week, right after I finish working on the cast recording of Lesbian Love Octagon!
11.03.12 Rehearsals begin for cast recording
So excited to start rehearsing for the cast recording of Lesbian Love Octagon. This recording is going to be serious. Fourteen talented women belting out one fantastic new musical. How exciting!
10.19.12 See me in new music video!
The music video for up-and-coming Brooklyn band, Leland Sundries, has just come out of the editing room! The song, aptly titled "Givin' Up Redheads," stars myself and Elvis. That's right, Elvis. View the video on YouTube here!
10.14.12 Goodbye to Divorce... for now!
Divorce The Musical was such an incredible experience. I've been involved with the show since the beginning of its development a year and a half ago. Now, after two staged readings and a limited run at the Off-Broadway Triad Theatre, it's time to stop and refuel. I am sure that this won't be the last you hear of Divorce! The show touched so many people and was such a smart, funny, creative way to tackle a subject that far too many people are affected by. I can't wait for this show to be put into a bigger, more permanent theatre. Special thanks to Ruthe Ponturo (writer) and John Thomas Fischer (composer) for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing new work.
10.05.12 Cast in Original Cast Recording!
I've been cast as a lead role in a new musical titled The Lesbian Love Octagon! I'll be participating in the cast recording this November. The show has a slated Off-Broadway opening in fall of 2013. I participated in the first workshop production of this show two years ago and, I must say, it is one fantastic musical. It's an all-female cast (14 of them, in fact) and it contains a beautiful story with catchy, fun music. I'm the crazy comedic relief. Typical. Super excited to continue to be a part of this wonderful piece of theatre!!
09.28.12 Divorce opening
Divorce The Musical opened to a sold-out audience tonight and, boy oh boy, was it a fun opening! I adore working on new shows because you learn so much about what really works well when putting it in front of a crowd. Looking forward to the next two weeks for our engagement at the Triad! Hopefully, they'll find a more permanent space soon!
09.14.12 Singing LIVE on CBS!
This very morning, I performed live with the ladies of Divorce The Musical on CBS's "The Couch!" I sang in a trio AND they showed a few clips of me singing my crazy Cruella DeVil-esque solo!! Click here to watch!
09.10.12 Rehearsals for Divorce begin
It's true! Rehearsals are underway for Divorce! We'd better get crackin' because the run is apparently already 40% sold out! Buy those tickets now while you still can!
09.04.12 Divorce The Musical featured on Australian TV!
My face has officially graced the airwaves of the Outback. Divorce The Musical was featured on "The Morning Show Australia" today! The segment included clips of me singing from the NYC reading and an interview with the show's creator, Ruthe Ponturo. To watch it, click here!
08.27.12 Watch out for me on "Good Day New York!"
I'll be singing a song or two from Divorce The Musical, live on FOX's "Good Day New York" very soon! Exact date TBA, so stay tuned!

Articles for the upcoming Off-Broadway production of Divorce The Musical have been featured in the NY Post (click here to read), the Huffington Post (click here to read), The Times UK, and The Australian!! Also, be sure to stay updated on the show's official website, www.divorce-themusical.com!
08.21.12 Casting of Divorce -- It's official!
It's true! I'll be officially making my Off-Broadway debut this September in the new show, Divorce The Musical! I could not be more thrilled to be involved in a new work with such an incredible creative team. Onward and upward!
07.29.12 The party is over, kids.
Have your mom come pick you up and be sure to drink some coconut water before going to bed. The Wild Party is officially over. But what a fun and far-too-quick ride it's been. I loved playing Madelaine True so much. It was such a challenge to take on a different physicality and energy to play that jaded, predatory beast of a woman. I had a blast and will sincerely miss this talented cast and creative team. Thanks, Secret Theatre, for including me in this kickass production!
07.25.12 Music Video shoot a success!
Just wrapped up the music video shoot for Leland Sundries' new single, "Givin' Up Redheads." And you guessed it... I'm the redhead! Who gives me up? You'll have to check back to see when the video is edited and up! I'll give you a clue... he's the King.

You don't want to miss this production.
06.27.12 Cast in upcoming Music Video
I've just been cast as a trouble making rockabilly chick in a music video for the indie-folk Brooklyn band, Leland Sundries. The song? "Givin' Up Redheads." Pretty appropriate, I think. For more info on the band, click here.
06.24.12 Bye bye Avenue Q
What a rewarding and amazing experience it has been to play one of my dream roles as Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q. With an 11 week run and over 5,500 total audience members, this show was certainly one of the best experiences I've ever had. Being directed by Rick Lyon, one of the masterminds behind the original Broadway production, was truly an honor. Getting to put on this incredible show week after week at the adorable mom-and-pop theatre at Smithtown PAC was wonderful as well. So sad to see this production close, but happy to be moving on to other projects! Thanks to all the talented people involved in making this production a success.
06.13.12 Divorce Reading a Success
The reading of Divorce The Musical went so well today! A larger scale limited run of the show is already scheduled to make its Off-Broadway debut in September! Stay tuned!
06.05.12 Busy! Busy!
Rehearsals have begun for both of my future projects! I'm rehearsing for Divorce The Musical during the days, rehearsing for The Wild Party in the evenings, and, of course, finishing up my 11 week run of Avenue Q Thursdays thru Sundays. Oh, did I mention I'm moving into a new apartment in two weeks, too? Ha! At least I'm keeping busy with projects I love!
05.30.12 Why hello, UCB 201
I'm trying to keep on my toes by continuing with Improv Classes at the UCB Theatre. Stay tuned for info on my graduation performance!

Exciting news! I'll be playing the female lead of Kate Monster/Lucy the Slut in Avenue Q at Smithtown PAC in Long Island!

Wow, it feels good to graduate again. Momma would be so proud. After taking a refresher in Improv 101 at Upright Citizens Brigade NYC, I finally made it to the finish line.
02.04.12 Premiere of "Trouble With Charlie"
The short film "Trouble With Charlie" premiered tonight! I was a supporting role and acted in a love scene alongside a puppet.
Congrats to Victor Varnado, the director and visionary behind the project!
